The mission of Fraternidad Latina, Inc. is to ensure that all immigrants can have a quality of life by assisting all Immigrants to navigate through the legal, workforce, education, medical, social, and civic systems toward becoming better citizens in the United States. And, to create a connection to their home countries for those with the greatest needs.

HOW WE HELP CHILDREN THAT CROSS THE BORDER TO COME TO THE USA

  • Fill out the family reunification package. Become the Potential Adult if the sponsor can not continue to take care of the child.
  • Making sure they have a connection with their love ones while they are in the shelters.
  • Help the sponsor get together all the requirements, such as proof of address, income verification, school pre-registration, and fingerprints.
  • Take the sponsor to pick up the child from the airport
  • Take the child to the doctor for a physical and a immunization record
  • Register the child in school
  • Register the child for the bus transportation
  • Become the School Advocate for some of the children
  • Attend every possible meeting in school with the parent
  • Pick up the child from school in case of emergency
  • Translate for the parents any time they need me to

  • Once a month I take the mothers to pick up their benefits because they don’t own a car
  • The motor vehicles in Florida does not supply people with Spanish interpreter. I go to all the appointments with them and translate for them
  • Gather all the requirements together. Fill out the application. Take them to the appointment. Be their interpreter.

  • I am the school advocate of many children, I always accompany the parents to the meetings.

  • Fill out applications such as political asylum, visa U, juvenile visas and more
  • After school clubs and sports
  • Tutoring
  • Take small group of children to the library with their parents and teach them how to access the library activities for kids
  • The ones that do not have a car I take them to the library on a regular basis.
  • Go with the mothers to the food pantries so they can get a little extra help
  • Help the parents celebrate the birthday of the little love ones especially the ones that are suffering from some kind of disease
  • Encourage the parents enroll their children on Prepaid College education for the future so they can become better citizens in the United States of America
  • We assist the parents to register for a GED and ESOL programs.
